They are confident because all three are considerably stronger than Qin Mu in terms of cultivation, and they have also been given special lamps meant to counter the Little Poison King's techniques. Qin Mu, however, warns them not to underestimate their enemy. He points out that a physician's combat ability cannot be judged simply by cultivation level. A skilled poison user can kill opponents far above his own realm, and the Little Poison King is especially dangerous.
That warning proves justified almost immediately. As the group approaches the Imperial Academy, the Little Poison King launches his attack. His poison overwhelms the women and puts them in serious danger. Qin Mu reacts quickly, using medicine to temporarily suppress the poison inside their bodies before ordering them to strike back.
The counterattack forces the Little Poison King to retreat. The others want to pursue him, but Qin Mu refuses. He recognizes the larger danger behind such a decision: pushing the poison master into desperation could result in him releasing his toxins throughout the capital and killing countless people. Instead, Qin Mu takes the injured women back to the Scholars' Quarters. His priority is to neutralize the poison before it becomes irreversible.
After treating them, the women prepare to return to the palace. Qin Mu also decides to accompany them, but the episode soon shifts toward a much larger threat developing inside the Imperial Academy. Following the recent political upheaval, the new Crown Prince has canceled treaties made by the rebels and ordered previously surrendered territories to be reclaimed. One of those envoys is Pangong Tso, whom Qin Mu has encountered before. Pangong Tso's presence immediately raises concerns because someone detects an extraordinary power sleeping inside him. His progress is also startling. When Qin Mu and the others previously encountered him on the steppes, Pangong Tso had only reached the Spirit Embryo realm. Now he has progressed far enough to approach the barrier of the Liuhe Divine Treasury.
Even more alarming is how easily he handles a test from Wanyun. Despite Wanyun's considerable strength, Pangong Tso defeats him in only two moves. Qin Mu's senior brother therefore gives him an important assignment: enter the Liuhe Hall, observe Pangong Tso closely, and determine what is really happening to him. The suspicion is chilling. They believe Pangong Tso may no longer be entirely himself.
According to the theory discussed in the episode, Pangong Tso could have been possessed by an ancient existence—an old monster who has survived for more than 10,000 years. This being has repeatedly escaped death through reincarnation, reportedly being reborn 17 times and living 18 lives. The identity of this mysterious figure connects directly to the Loulan Golden Palace. He is known as the Grand Lord, the true ruler of the Golden Palace and the master of the Shaman Lord.
His abilities make the threat even more serious. The Grand Lord possesses a secret technique that allows him to kill someone simply by knowing that person's name. This explains why Qin Mu's master has avoided using his real name. Qin Mu realizes the danger immediately because Pangong Tso knows his name. Still, there is one reason Qin Mu is not immediately doomed. Pangong Tso is currently only at the Wuyao realm, meaning he may not yet possess enough power to use the Grand Lord's most terrifying abilities at their full potential.
There is also another complication. Pangong Tso has entered the Imperial Academy as an official envoy, with permission directly from the Crown Prince. Qin Mu cannot simply attack or eliminate him without creating serious political consequences. That leaves observation as the safest option. Qin Mu heads toward the Liuhe Hall, where Pangong Tso and other students are studying how to break through the Liuhe Divine Treasury.
The lesson explains the complicated process behind this breakthrough. The Liuhe system represents Heaven, Earth, and the four directions. A cultivator must first establish up and down within the Spirit Embryo Divine Treasury, then determine the four horizontal directions using the five stars associated with the Wuyao Divine Treasury. Pangong Tso unleashes the Soul-Harvesting Art of the Loulan Golden Palace. The technique can use the souls of humans, demons, and divine beasts as fuel for cultivation. More disturbingly, Pangong Tso has concealed this supernatural power inside his eyes. Qin Mu realizes that without the protection of his Celestial Demoncraft, the single attack from Pangong Tso's gaze could have killed him.
The revelation pushes Qin Mu's suspicion much closer to certainty. The power hidden inside Pangong Tso is so ancient and frightening that Qin Mu concludes the mysterious figure may indeed be the Grand Lord.
