Kail confronts the enemy commander and reveals that the fight has been part of a larger strategy. Suddenly, smoke rises from Wassuganni. Kail realizes that the battle was meant to distract him while another operation unfolded elsewhere. The Hittites move toward the city, but Kail knows that capturing the capital alone is not enough. Inside the city, Yuri offers to infiltrate the palace because she believes she can move through it unnoticed. Zannanza initially rejects the idea, insisting that she should return to Kail. But when news arrives that the Prince of Darkness has returned, Yuri realizes she must act before he can escape with the king. Zannanza reluctantly agrees to let Yuri go, ordering her to stall the king and the Prince of Darkness until Kail arrives. Once her brother reaches the city, Yuri must escape immediately.
The palace is already collapsing into chaos. The Mitanni leadership realizes that the Hittites are overwhelming their defenses and considers abandoning Wassuganni. The king refuses because leaving would almost certainly mean capture and death. Then the Prince of Darkness appears. Yuri watches as Mursili prepares to leave with the king. She asks him to take her with him, but his response is cold. He tells her that she can seek refuge with her sister, revealing that Tatukia is actually his elder sister.
Mursili explains that Tatukia was sent to Egypt twenty years earlier as a political consort, essentially exchanged by their father for wealth. Over time, however, she survived the unfamiliar court, became the pharaoh's queen consort, and eventually rose to become the de facto ruler of Egypt. She is now known as Nefertiti, the queen of Egypt. Mursili views Tatukia's survival as proof that women rely on cunning, power, and wealth. Yuri strongly disagrees. She argues that Tatukia was simply a woman alone in a foreign land who did whatever she could to survive. Yuri believes people need love to become strong, just as plants need water and sunlight.
Mursili turns the question back on her, asking whether Kail truly loves her and whether he intends to make her queen. Yuri admits that she does not have the standing to become queen, and she begins to reveal that something is about to happen in her relationship with Kail. Mursili is intrigued by her unusual outlook and even suggests that keeping Yuri for himself might amuse him.
Before anything more can happen, word arrives that Kail Mursili's Hittite legion has breached the main gate. Mursili immediately leaves to face the invasion. Kail finally reaches the palace and learns that Yuri is still inside. Zannanza tells him that she was supposed to flee once he arrived, but she chose to stay behind. Kail's concern immediately turns to panic when he discovers that the Mitanni soldiers have set Wassuganni on fire to cover their retreat. The flames have already reached the palace, where many people remain trapped.
Kail orders the fire extinguished and rushes toward the palace himself. Inside, Yuri is also trying to escape as the fire spreads. She is desperate to see Kail again, but danger closes in around her. Her animal companion Aslan suddenly reacts to something unseen, adding to the chaos as the burning palace begins to threaten everyone inside.
Then Yuri hears Kail. After everything they have endured, Yuri and Kail finally see each other again. But their reunion lasts only moments before Mursili appears with the king. The Prince of Darkness makes his demand clear: Kail must withdraw with his army, allowing Mursili and the king to leave as free men.
