During her escape, Yuri encounters Prince Kail. Unlike the soldiers hunting her, Kail does not immediately turn her over. Instead, he uses his position to misdirect the guards. When soldiers ask whether he has seen a strange girl, Kail calmly denies knowing anything and orders them to leave him alone.
This encounter becomes even more confusing for Yuri because she can suddenly understand what Kail is saying. She begins connecting the pieces and wonders if the kiss from Himuro somehow caused this change. While Kail behaves as though Yuri is simply a mysterious woman from a foreign land, Yuri has far more urgent concerns. The king, Suppiluliuma, is growing old, and Nakia wants her own son to inherit the throne. The problem is that her son is the youngest among the princes. To clear his path to succession, she wants the other princes dead. Her plan is to use a death curse against them, and Yuri's blood is needed as part of the sacrifice required to invoke that curse.
Yuri immediately refuses. She has no intention of becoming a tool in Nakia's struggle for power, but her resistance means little inside the Hittite royal court. Nakia holds enormous religious and political authority as both queen consort and priestess of the Great Temple. The situation becomes even more dangerous when Nakia learns that the king is about to arrive. She cannot allow Suppiluliuma to discover the real purpose of the ceremony. Nakia therefore creates a public explanation for Yuri's presence, claiming that the mysterious maiden was sent by the storm god Teshub and must be returned to him through sacrifice.
The king accepts the explanation. Yuri is taken to the Great Temple, where a ceremony is announced for the following day. The city gathers because the people are told that the sacrifice will secure prosperity, rain, and fertile lands. Yuri, however, knows exactly what is about to happen. She is not being honored. She is about to be killed.
As the ceremony begins, the royal family takes their places. Yuri is shocked when she recognizes Kail among the princes. Until this moment, she had thought of him simply as the strange man who helped her escape the guards. Now she discovers that he is actually the third prince of the Hittite royal family.
The priestly ritual calls for Yuri to be offered to Teshub as a pure maiden. Nakia prepares to complete the sacrifice, but Kail suddenly intervenes. His interruption threatens to expose the entire situation, and Nakia immediately demands an explanation. Kail, however, has already found a way to challenge the ceremony using Nakia's own rules.
He points out that the offering must be completely pure. If Yuri is no longer a suitable offering, then proceeding with the ritual would itself be an offense against the god. Kail then makes a shocking claim: he says that Yuri has already been with him. The claim is deliberately designed to destroy the value of Yuri as a sacrifice.
Nakia immediately realizes what Kail is doing. She knows the truth: Yuri and Kail only kissed. Nothing more happened. But Kail's lie forces Nakia into a dangerous position because admitting that Yuri remains pure would allow the ceremony to continue and leave Yuri vulnerable to sacrifice.

Suppiluliuma accepts Kail's explanation and allows Yuri to leave with him. The king even jokes about Kail's reputation with women and suggests that the prince should eventually find a proper bride and settle down. Kail responds casually, maintaining his carefree image while successfully getting Yuri away from the execution.
