The episode 6 of Grand Blue Dreaming Season 3 starts with a university class discussing Shinichiro Yamamoto’s virginity. What should be a normal group exercise quickly becomes an absurd brainstorming session as the students try to find a solution to Yamamoto’s romantic problem.
The group suggests increasingly ridiculous ideas, including money, finding a girlfriend, and even questionable methods involving hypnosis. The discussion becomes so extreme that Yamamoto’s personal life turns into a full classroom debate. The students then change their approach and use a flat bicycle tire as an example of problem-solving, leading to an even more ridiculous discussion about whether Yamamoto’s partner even needs to be human.
Yamamoto becomes increasingly frustrated as everyone treats his situation like a scientific experiment. The classroom chaos eventually ends, and the story moves into the group’s summer plans.
The group decides to have a summer drinking party featuring yukatas and takoyaki. They want to create a memorable experience before everyone becomes busy with their future responsibilities. They discuss different takoyaki fillings, including octopus, cheese, shrimp, mentaiko, kimchi, and avocado.
The party preparations quickly become chaotic. A camera is brought along to capture their summer memories, while the discussion about wearing proper yukatas leads to an embarrassing conversation about what should be worn underneath. Chisa becomes uncomfortable with the whole situation, while Iori discovers that his outfit is actually a jinbei rather than a proper yukata.
Once the party begins, the group starts eating takoyaki and drinking. The gathering quickly turns into the kind of wild Pab-style celebration that Grand Blue is known for. The group experiments with different food combinations and continues drinking until the party becomes increasingly difficult to control.
The next morning, everyone looks back on the summer gathering and realizes they have managed to create the memorable experience they wanted. With the summer activities coming to an end, the students begin thinking about their next responsibilities, including job hunting, reports, drafting work, and graduate-school preparations.
Then Nanaka Kotegawa brings Iori an unexpected opportunity. Dolphin has opened a new location in Palau and needs temporary staff for about two weeks. Iori immediately becomes interested because he and Chisa have already discussed the possibility of diving overseas.
Kohei is much less enthusiastic. His biggest concern is missing his favorite summer anime. For Kohei, watching his shows live is extremely important, and traveling overseas would interfere with his routine.
Iori eventually convinces him by explaining the benefits of the trip. Working at Dolphin would give them more diving experience, help Kohei work toward his AOWD, and potentially provide opportunities to get diving equipment at a better price. Kohei finally agrees to go.
However, Kohei soon discovers that the trip is more serious than he expected. The group needs to meet at Narita Airport at 9 a.m. on Monday because they are actually traveling overseas to Palau. Kohei is shocked when he realizes that this is not simply a local diving job.
Nanaka explains that Dolphin will take care of important necessities such as food, clothing, and accommodation. Kohei’s biggest remaining concern is how he will survive without being able to watch his favorite anime live.
The episode then shifts to the Kitahara family home. Kohei contacts his younger sister, Shiori, because he needs his passport. He initially mentions his missing allowance, but his real reason for calling is to ask Shiori to send his passport so he can travel abroad.
Shiori is surprised that Kohei suddenly plans to spend the rest of his summer overseas. She points out that he has barely returned home during the summer and suggests that he come home himself to collect the passport.
Kohei immediately realizes that this could be a much bigger problem than getting ready for Palau. Before he can begin his overseas adventure, he may have to face his younger sister after avoiding home for so long.
