Naddy shares a story involving disastrous horseback-riding skills and Rentaro joining her in training. Yamame describes Rentaro literally becoming a physical support after protecting someone from a fall and suffering broken bones in the process.
The interviews continue to spiral out of control. Iku recalls setting up a situation that could have created private time together, only for Rentaro to resist so intensely that he repeatedly smashed his head against a wall until he passed out. Another girlfriend casually mentions hurting Rentaro so badly that he suffered multiple fractures, while another says he absorbed an entire cup of hot tea to protect her clothes.
The joke becomes even bigger when the program reveals that all these unbelievable stories involve the same boyfriend: Rentaro. Even tiny imperfections bother her enough to make her act automatically. She also prepares tea for him and treats her responsibilities as class representative with great seriousness.
Rentaro initially assumes Chiyo is simply an exceptionally diligent girl. But the more time he spends with her, the clearer it becomes that her sense of responsibility is much heavier than it should be for someone her age.
A problem with the hot water provides the first major glimpse into this pressure. When the water suddenly turns cold, Chiyo becomes extremely worried that she has failed to properly look after her guest. She repeatedly reminds herself that she must be responsible, eventually trying to warm Rentaro herself despite being much smaller and younger.

Rentaro realizes that she has been carrying a burden that nobody her age should have to carry alone. His words hit Chiyo deeply because he has known her for less than an hour yet has already recognized something about her that others seemingly overlooked. Instead of demanding that she remain perfect, Rentaro tells her that she is still young and does not need to act as though she has to fill every adult role around her.
