Josh Brolin
recently confessed that he turned to his own cinematic history when searching for the ultimate audio demonstration, rewatching Avengers: Endgame to test his newly installed home theater sound system.

The actor, widely recognized by Marvel Cinematic Universe fans for his performance capture and voice work as the intergalactic villain Thanos, expressed lighthearted humiliation over the movie choice.

"This is embarrassing," Brolin stated during a recent media appearance. "I was trying to figure out what movie I should put on to test it and that’s the movie I picked. That’s super embarrassing."

Testing New Atmos Speakers with the MCU

The revelation came to light during an interview with Metro Entertainment reporter Zac Haniff, where Brolin was promoting his upcoming 20th Century Studios survival thriller, Whalefall.

When the conversation shifted toward how often he revisits his past work, Brolin admitted that his latest viewing of the 2019 blockbuster was strictly utilitarian. Having recently set up a home theater arrangement, the actor needed high-fidelity media to evaluate his new Dolby Atmos speakers.

Hollywood blockbusters like Avengers: Endgame are frequently utilized by both home audio enthusiasts and industry reviewers to benchmark spatial audio setups. The film’s climactic final battle sequence features intricate sound editing, multi-layered special effects, and a sweeping orchestral score, making it a demanding track for checking speaker balance, low-frequency bass output, and overhead audio channels.

A Record-Breaking Cinematic Legacy

While Brolin found the choice self-conscious, the film choice aligns with a massive moment in box office history. Avengers: Endgame recently reclaimed its position as the highest-grossing film of all time worldwide, surpassing James Cameron's Avatar.

Following a late-September theatrical re-release titled Avengers: Endgame Encore, the Marvel Studios epic pushed its historical box office cumulative total to an estimated $2,925,466,000, narrowly edging past Avatar’s $2,923,710,000. The Encore edition drew thousands of fans back into commercial Dolby Atmos theaters to experience the movie in premium large formats.

What Happens Next for Josh Brolin

While Brolin's character met a definitive end at the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, the actor has previously noted he maintains close communication with directors Joe and Anthony Russo. The filmmakers were recently announced to return to Marvel Studios to direct the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, which will feature Robert Downey Jr. returning to the franchise as Doctor Doom.

For audiences looking to see Brolin's latest on-screen work, his new feature film Whalefall is scheduled to hit cinemas in the United Kingdom on October 16.
