The expanding Yellowstone spin-off universe is shuffling its deck once again, bringing a familiar face back to the screen. Jefferson White, who portrayed the fan-favorite ranch hand Jimmy Hurdstrom in the original Paramount Network series, is officially joining the cast of Marshals Season 2.
The announcement, confirmed by CBS on Wednesday, comes just weeks after franchise creator Taylor Sheridan permanently shelved 6666 cancelled, the long-gestating Texas-based spin-off that was originally intended to center around White’s character. Instead of leading his own series, White will bring the journey of Jimmy Hurdstrom back into the fold of an active Yellowstone spin-off sequel.
A New Chapter for a Fan Favorite
According to an official press release shared by CBS, Jefferson White will appear in a recurring capacity for the upcoming season of the police procedural and neo-Western drama. The network described Jimmy Hurdstrom as a "good-hearted yet rough-around-the-edges ranch hand who evolved from a troubled criminal into a resilient, proud cowboy."
In statements regarding his casting, Jefferson White expressed excitement to join the ensemble and dive into the world of Marshals Season 2. The transition rescues Jimmy Hurdstrom from the limbo left by the cancellation of the 6666 cancelled project. Taylor Sheridan explained on the Rodeo Time podcast that he chose to shelve 6666 cancelled because he is deeply protective of the real-world Texas ranch and its staff. Taylor Sheridan also felt Jimmy Hurdstrom's arc was already well-told in Yellowstone, making Marshals Season 2 a better fit to continue the character's journey.

Marshals Season 2 follows Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) utilizing his Navy SEAL background within the U.S. Marshals. Following a stellar premiere that drew millions of viewers, CBS quickly renewed the series. Jefferson White joins a returning cast that features Luke Grimes, Gil Birmingham, Mo Brings Plenty, Tatanka Means, Logan Marshall-Green, and Ash Santos. Production kicked off in Utah in June 2026 to resolve first-season cliffhangers.
