The episode 12 of Azur Lane: Slow Ahead Season 2 starts with Akashi proudly announcing that she has finally finished updating the Meowofficers. The little cat-like officers have apparently received new adjustments, but Akashi refuses to explain exactly what has changed. Instead, she tells everyone to wait until they awaken. The others immediately become suspicious, especially because something about the new Meowofficers feels wrong.
Akashi activates them, and the situation becomes strange almost immediately. The Meowofficers begin behaving unlike their usual selves, moving around in ways that surprise everyone. Niimi notices that something is happening, while the others struggle to understand what the upgraded units are trying to do. Akashi initially acts confident, but her certainty quickly disappears when one of the Meowofficers appears determined to leave the room.
The group tries to stop them, only to discover that the Meowofficers have somehow become much more troublesome than expected. Akashi finally admits that she may have made a small mistake while adjusting them. That admission confirms everyone's worst suspicions. The Meowofficers escape, and the girls immediately organize a search before the runaway units can cause even more trouble around the base.
The search quickly becomes a collection of bizarre encounters. The first major stop is Royal Fortune, who has apparently been given something by one of the Meowofficers. The problem is that what she received has turned out to be an extremely strong alcoholic drink. The team realizes that one of the rogue Meowofficers is responsible for Royal Fortune's sudden condition. Instead of treating the incident with the seriousness the others expect, Royal Fortune seems impressed by the strength of the drink, making the situation even more ridiculous.
The search continues, and the group soon encounters Golden Hind. She has also found one of the missing Meowofficers, but she initially mistakes it for something valuable. After realizing that the little creature is part of the group they are trying to recover, she hands it over without much resistance. The situation becomes another reminder that the runaway Meowofficers are wandering through the base and interacting with anyone they happen to encounter.
With two of the missing units recovered, the search party keeps moving. Their next destination is the cafeteria, where another Meowofficer has wandered into an especially dangerous situation. The cafeteria's Super Spicy Series has already defeated plenty of challengers, but Implacable appears completely unfazed by the extreme heat. The Meowofficer has apparently suffered more from the encounter than Implacable, who happily continues eating the intensely spicy food.
The others are amazed by Implacable's ability to handle the dish. She eventually starts feeling the heat and considers removing some of her clothing because of the sweat, but the others immediately stop her from doing that in the cafeteria. The strange encounter provides another comedic detour during what should be a straightforward recovery mission. The team then resumes its search, checking different parts of the base. Ayanami helps investigate the area, but there is still no sign of the remaining Meowofficers. The group soon hears a suspicious voice and follows it to another unexpected scene.
They discover Bremerton dealing with a Meowofficer that is behaving strangely. The little creature is causing trouble, forcing Bremerton to struggle with it while the others try to understand what happened. Once again, the explanation leads back to Akashi's faulty adjustments. The Meowofficers are not simply wandering around anymore; their strange behavior is creating one ridiculous situation after another.
The search becomes even stranger when the group encounters Große with another Meowofficer. The girls warn her to stay away, but Große does not appear particularly concerned. Instead, the Meowofficer's behavior creates another unexpected moment, eventually leaving it asleep. The sleepy encounter adds yet another complication to the recovery effort, although it also gives the group another unit to collect.
At this point, the search party is exhausted, but only a few Meowofficers remain. Everyone pushes forward and continues checking the base until they finally manage to recover all of the escaped units. What began as Akashi showing off her latest improvement has turned into a full-scale cleanup operation involving alcohol, treasure hunting, extreme food, strange behavior, and several exhausted shipgirls.
After finally gathering everyone together, the girls reflect on what happened. They agree that Akashi deserves to be reported to the commander and properly scolded for creating the mess in the first place. The whole incident has been far more work than anyone expected, and Akashi's casual admission that she made a mistake has not exactly improved her reputation.
Yet despite all the chaos, the girls realize something important about the experience. Working together to recover the Meowofficers gave them an opportunity to spend time with one another. Instead of remembering the day only as a disaster, they begin talking about how much fun they had while working as a group. The mood shifts from frustration to warmth as they look forward to whatever the next day might bring. The episode then delivers one final joke involving Akashi. After apparently learning from her earlier mistake, she claims to have created an ultimate, perfect, rampage-proof Meowofficer. This time, she believes she has solved every problem and eliminated the possibility of another escape.
Unfortunately, Akashi identifies the real flaw in her previous attempt: she mass-produced the faulty Meowofficers. To correct that mistake, she gathers all of her new units together in one place and prepares to awaken them at once. She confidently activates the new creation, expecting the improved Meowofficer to prove that her engineering has finally succeeded. Instead, the new Meowofficer immediately runs away.
Akashi is left watching in disbelief as her supposedly perfect creation escapes just like the previous ones. The girls then confront her, making it clear that her experiments have finally gone too far. Akashi quickly admits defeat and promises that she will not repeat the mistake. The ending perfectly captures the playful spirit of Azur Lane: Slow Ahead!. What begins as a simple upgrade project becomes an absurd adventure across the entire base, bringing together characters who would not normally share the same scenes. The Meowofficers create most of the chaos, but their rampage also gives everyone a reason to work together and enjoy each other's company.
By the time the day ends, the girls are already looking forward to tomorrow, even though they know another ridiculous situation could be waiting for them. The final joke with Akashi's supposedly perfect Meowofficer makes that possibility even more obvious, turning the episode into a lighthearted farewell built around friendship, teamwork, and one very persistent inventor who still has plenty to learn.
Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! Season 2 Episode 12 delivers a playful finale built around the series' strongest qualities: chaotic comedy, cute character interactions, and an easygoing sense of friendship. Akashi's malfunctioning Meowofficers provide a simple premise that allows the episode to move through a series of increasingly absurd encounters, from Royal Fortune's unexpectedly powerful drink to Implacable's battle with the Super Spicy Series and the sleepy Meowofficer incidents involving Bremerton and Große. The story also gives the cast a chance to work together, turning the chaotic search into a surprisingly warm group experience. The final gag, with Akashi creating another supposedly perfect Meowofficer only for it to immediately escape, gives the episode a fitting comedic punch and reinforces that Akashi's experiments are unlikely to become less troublesome anytime soon.
