The long-standing mystery surrounding the Jade Giant's future has been resolved as theatrical screenings of the Avengers: Endgame Encore re-release officially confirm the return of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk for the upcoming blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday.
The character's involvement marks a significant reversal after months of public denial from Mark Ruffalo and an official cast announcement from Marvel Studios that initially omitted his name. The newly added bonus footage directly establishes a high-stakes narrative bridge, putting Bruce Banner on a direct collision course with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

The updated footage functions as a direct continuation of this summer's blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In that storyline, Bruce Banner suffers a catastrophic loss of control after his mind is influenced by Jean Grey, resulting in an intense rampage and a subsequent takedown by Spider-Man.
Inside the Self-Containment Bunker
The newly appended post-credits sequence opens two miles underground in a heavily fortified military bunker. Bruce Banner has isolated himself in what he calls "self-containment," explicitly designed to keep any sudden transformations far away from civilian populations.
The footage shows Bruce Banner recording a video log to document his first uncontrollable transformation in roughly a decade. To solve the crisis, the brilliant scientist is shown tinkering with a new Gamma-suppression serum in hopes of permanently neutralizing the Hulk entity.
Doctor Doom Makes His Move
The subterranean isolation is abruptly breached when Doctor Doom teleports directly into the secure facility, bypassing its physical defenses. While Doctor Doom remains largely off-screen during the encounter, his voice is clearly audible as he delivers a brief command: "Dr. Banner, I'm here to collect you."
The sudden intrusion triggers Bruce Banner’s defenses, sparking an immediate and volatile transformation. The audio captures the recognizable roar of the Hulk as he prepares to face the new multiversal threat. However, before any physical combat unfolds, the scene ends with a flash of light, cutting to a shot of one of Doctor Doom's glowing magical runes branded onto the concrete floor.
