That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Movie Breakdown

The movie starts with a dramatic conversation inside a royal palace under the ocean, where a king learns that a highly sacred artifact known as the Dragon's Fang has been stolen. A sinister chancellor named Djeese tells the worried king not to panic because a special task force is already chasing down the thief. Meanwhile, a fun recap shows our main hero, Rimuru Tempest, explaining his past life as a human salaryman.

Rimuru's Tropical Vacation on Elmesia's Resort Island

Rimuru explains how he died and turned into a powerful blue slime creature in a fantasy world. He talks about building his monster nation called the Jura Tempest Federation and how he successfully fought off bad guys to become a real Demon Lord. After throwing a massive festival to celebrate their success, Rimuru and his closest companions get a very special invitation from Celestial Emperor Elmesia.

The group boards a massive dragon airship to travel to Elmesia's private resort island, where everyone feels totally relaxed. Shion and the other monsters enjoy reading manga, drinking excellent juices, and eating delicious treats while flying high through the fluffy clouds. Rimuru thanks Elmesia for being such a generous host, and she explains that the beautiful resort features a busy market and a big harbor.

The Nuclear Magic Attack and Leon Cromwell's Barrier

Suddenly, the excited monsters look out the windows of the flying ship and see the stunning tropical resort island down below. As the vessel touches down safely, the local island kids run up with big smiles to check out the cool machine. Rimuru steps onto the ground and notices a massive elemental creature known as the Guardian Dragon King resting near the waters.

The smart spirit companion Raphael tells Rimuru that elemental dragons are super rare legends, which reminds him of Milim's old pet dragon. As soon as they enter the front gates of the tourist town, the energetic demon lord Milim spots tasty food stalls and runs away at full speed. Elmesia decides to take the other adults to go sample some legendary secret liquor she kept hidden away.

Benimaru, Hakuro, and Soulei leave the main party to go inspect the island and make sure everything is completely safe for their king. Rimuru, Shuna, Shion, and a little goblin warrior named Gobta head straight down to the beach to see the beautiful blue ocean. Shion wears a cute swimsuit and splashes around in the warm water while throwing a beach ball.

The Conspiracy of the Deep Sea Kingdom Kaien

While Rimuru plays in the water with his friends, a mysterious woman with long hair watches him silently from the shadow of the palm trees. Suddenly, a massive bright flash of light appears over the deep open sea, creating a loud boom that shakes the sandy shore. The helpful spirit companion Raphael quickly warns Rimuru that a blast of nuclear magic just went off.

The magical blast does not damage the vacation island because a protective barrier around the Golden City of El Dorado reflects the hit. Rimuru learns from Elmesia that Demon Lord Leon Cromwell owns that nearby land and has to deal with these random magical strikes all the time. The relaxed island citizens are completely used to the loud sounds and just keep cooking dinner.

Deep down below the ocean surface, the evil chancellor Djeese is getting totally furious because his plan to damage the kingdom is moving too slowly. He asks his creepy assistant Zodon if the great water dragon deity has awakened from its deep slumber yet. Zodon explains that they still need to find a hidden magic flute to control the ancient beast.

Gobta and Yura's Underground Escape

Back up at the sunny market stalls, Shuna and Shion look at handmade hair accessories crafted from colorful seashells by the local islanders. Gobta acts a bit grumpy about shopping, so Shion grabs him by his small green ears and drags him along the street. Suddenly, two shady underwater soldiers hidden in heavy cloaks start stalking the group from behind.

The mysterious girl from the beach spots the hidden soldiers and runs down a narrow alleyway to escape their grasp. Shion notices the sketchy behavior and blocks the girl's path to find out why she is acting so suspicious. The girl claims she is just a regular local fisherman's daughter, but her nervous expressions show she is hiding something huge.

While Shion and the girl argue in the alley, Rimuru goes missing from the group to check out a nearby snack stand. Shion panics when she realizes her beloved master has wandered off completely alone, so she dashes away to search the town. Gobta gets left behind in the confusion and decides to follow the mysterious girl down a path.

The mysterious girl walks quickly toward a cave while Gobta keeps tracking her footsteps from a short distance behind. She suddenly stops, turns around, and scolds Gobta for being a total weirdo who keeps following her around. Gobta introduces himself proudly as a member of the elite four of Tempest, but the girl does not look impressed.

Unlocking the Secret of the Ancient Water Dragon

The two teenagers walk together into a famous tourist attraction called the limestone cave tour, which looks like a magical sparkling wonderland. Rimuru, Shuna, and Shion are already inside the glowing cave enjoying the cool rock formations and eating sweet donuts. Gobta and the girl miss Rimuru by just a few seconds and end up taking a wrong turn.

While walking deeper into the dark stone maze, the two cloaked soldiers suddenly jump out from the shadows to kidnap the young girl. Gobta reacts instantly with great bravery, pulling out his sword to deflect a sharp knife aimed directly at her face. The brave goblin blocks the heavy strikes of the soldiers and tells the girl to run.

The sneaky soldiers use strange ocean magic to tackle Gobta to the ground, but he gets back up and uses a quick slash. The girl reveals her name is Yura, and she thanks the brave little goblin for saving her life. The bad guys pull out a glowing magical scroll to cast a spell that causes the cave floor to collapse.

Gobta and Yura fall down a deep dark hole and slide down a smooth rock water slide that leads to an underground beach. They land softly on the sand just as the beautiful golden sun begins to set over the wide ocean horizon. Yura looks up at the red sky with wide, teary eyes because she has never seen a sunset.

Zodon's Betrayal and the Ultimate Magic Battle

Yura explains that her people live in a hidden kingdom at the bottom of the sea called Kaien, which humans think is just a myth. She tells Gobta that her clan protects the ancient water dragon deity by playing a sacred melody on a magic flute. Unfortunately, the evil chancellor Djeese used dark magic explosions to trick the ocean people into starting a war.

Djeese lied to the underwater king, telling him that Demon Lord Rimuru was a wicked villain who wanted to destroy their sea country. Djeese claimed that the random nuclear magic strikes from the surface were actually Rimuru's fault. He captured some random surface travelers and forced them to tell fake lies to the king to trigger an invasion.

Suddenly, the wicked assistant Zodon appears on the underground beach with a large squad of armed ocean guards to capture Yura. Yura tells Gobta to run away to safety, but the stubborn goblin refuses to leave his new friend behind. Zodon uses a powerful water whip to knock Gobta unconscious and grabs Yura to take her away.

Rimuru and the giant white wolf Ranga find Gobta lying on the sand and use a powerful healing potion to wake him up. Gobta cries out in tears and begs Rimuru to save Yura from the evil deep-sea villains. Rimuru meets with Empress Elmesia, who formally requests the Jura Tempest Federation to solve the crisis under the sea.

Gobta and Ranga's Powerful Armor Fusion Form

Rimuru leaves Veldora behind to guard the surface resort island against any random magical attacks while he dives into the deep ocean. Using special magical bubbles, Rimuru, Gobta, and Ranga swim all the way down to the glowing gates of the kingdom of Kaien. They sneak into the royal palace just as Djeese prepares to blow the stolen flute.

The wicked chancellor Djeese steps onto a massive balcony and blows into the golden flute, sending out huge shockwaves of dark purple energy. Deep beneath the palace floors, a massive ancient water dragon opens its glowing yellow eyes and lets out a terrifying roar. The giant elemental monster smashes through the stone palace and heads toward the surface.

Rimuru activates his ultimate skill, Beelzebub, creating a massive black void to swallow up the raging giant water dragon. However, the clever spirit companion Raphael warns him that the monster is made entirely out of the surrounding ocean water. As long as the sea exists, the water dragon can instantly reform its liquid body over and over again.

The evil assistant Zodon suddenly betrays his boss Djeese by stabbing him in the back with a sharp dark trident. Zodon reveals that he is actually a dark demon spy who wants to use Yura to rule the world. He ties Yura up inside a giant glowing magic barrier to absorb her unique ancient energy.

The Epic Megiddo Ray Ending Explained

The massive water dragon starts moving toward the vacation island, threatening to create a giant tidal wave that will drown everyone. Rimuru sends out an emergency telepathic message to Shion and Benimaru to evacuate all the local island citizens. The tiny fairy Ramiris prepares her magical labyrinth to shelter the scared families from the incoming wave.

Benimaru uses his signature Hell Flare spell to burn away hundreds of smaller water monsters spawned by the raging dragon. Shion uses her giant sword and sharp magical threads to slice through the enemy vanguard forces in the water. Meanwhile, Gobta watches Yura suffer inside the dark purple barrier and feels a huge surge of pure anger.

Gobta calls out to the giant wolf Ranga, and the two friends use their special transformation skill to fuse together. Gobta turns into a super powerful armor-clad wolf warrior with flashing lightning horns on his head. The powered-up goblin dashes forward like a green streak of light, smashing through Zodon’s elite guards with absolute ease.

The wicked demon villain Zodon laughs loudly and tries to crush Gobta with a giant wall of heavy water currents. Gobta remembers Yura's beautiful smile and uses a massive lightning strike to vaporize the entire water attack. He breaks through the dark barrier and yells out that he loves Yura, throwing Zodon into the sea.

With the barrier destroyed, Rimuru flies high into the stormy sky and fires his legendary Megiddo Ray attack. The precise beams of concentrated light pierce through the core of the giant water dragon, causing it to dissolve into normal seawater. The dangerous storm clears away instantly, and the bright warm sun shines down on the ocean.

The movie ends with a touching scene on the beach, where Yura recovers safely and talks to Gobta under the blue sky. Gobta blushes heavily and asks if he can stay in the underwater kingdom forever to live happily by her side. Yura smiles gently but tells him that she is actually the eternal core of the dragon and cannot stay.
