Bungo Stray Dogs Wan 2 Episode 6 Recap: Old Rivals Clash Again in the Series

One rainy day, one game console, and two legendary rivalries prove that even the smallest challenge can become an unforgettable battle.

The episode 6 of Bungo Stray Dogs Wan 2 starts with Atsushi Nakajima unexpectedly running into Ryunosuke Akutagawa at a crowded soba restaurant. Their long-running rivalry immediately takes over as they silently compete to order the biggest meal. Every extra bowl of noodles and every side dish becomes part of an unspoken contest, with neither willing to admit defeat. What should have been an ordinary lunch quickly turns into a ridiculous battle of pride.

After finishing their oversized meals, Atsushi suggests deciding the winner with a simple game instead of another fight. Akutagawa assumes he means a real battle, but Atsushi surprises him by proposing a children's version of rock-paper-scissors. Even this harmless game becomes intense as Akutagawa secretly stretches the rules by using Rashomon, forcing Atsushi to respond with his own enhanced abilities. Their supernatural powers turn an innocent playground game into an over-the-top competition.

The pair refuse to stop there. They challenge each other to paper airplane contests, hard candy races, and even a shoe-kicking competition. Every activity is treated like a life-or-death showdown despite having no real prize. Their childish determination perfectly highlights the absurd but entertaining relationship between two of the series' fiercest rivals.

The focus then shifts to Osamu Dazai, who is enjoying an unusually peaceful day after work. His good mood disappears the moment he crosses paths with Chuuya Nakahara. The former partners immediately begin exchanging sarcastic insults before Dazai suggests settling their disagreement with a newly purchased racing game instead of fighting.

What begins as friendly competition quickly spirals into complete chaos. Every collision during the race sparks another accusation, with both men inventing increasingly ridiculous excuses for losing. They blame impossible disasters, monsters, and random events instead of admitting their own mistakes. Their constant arguing proves that even a simple party game is enough to reignite one of the anime's most iconic rivalries.

Later, another encounter places Atsushi and Akutagawa together beneath a small shelter during a sudden rainstorm. Trying to solve their problem, Atsushi jokingly suggests turning Rashomon into an umbrella. Akutagawa rejects the idea, explaining that his ability is still part of his coat and would remain soaked once the technique disappeared. Their discussion grows increasingly ridiculous as both continue arguing over impossible solutions.

Eventually, Atsushi worries that the Armed Detective Agency will eat his leftover donuts before he gets back, while Akutagawa learns that the Black Lizard is waiting with hot noodles that will soon become soggy. Despite their serious reputations, both rivals are delayed by surprisingly ordinary concerns.

Wanting to help, Atsushi offers Akutagawa a plastic shopping bag that can be placed over Rashomon to create a makeshift umbrella. Although Akutagawa reluctantly accepts, Atsushi assumes they will now walk together beneath it. Akutagawa completely rejects the idea, leading to yet another pointless argument before the rain suddenly stops on its own, making their entire disagreement meaningless.

The final comedy segment follows Akutagawa discovering a stray cat. Embarrassed by how affectionate he appears, he desperately hopes nobody will see him. Unfortunately, Atsushi arrives almost immediately and excitedly compares the striped cat to his own tiger form. He even suggests introducing the adorable animal to Kyoka and Dazai, leaving Akutagawa wishing he could disappear. The episode closes on this wholesome yet hilarious note, once again proving that Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! thrives on turning everyday moments into unforgettable comedy.

Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! Season 2 Episode 6 is a delightful comedy-focused episode that fully embraces the charm of the spin-off series. Instead of dramatic conflicts, it finds humor in everyday situations, allowing Atsushi, Akutagawa, Dazai, and Chuuya to showcase their unforgettable chemistry through exaggerated rivalries and clever visual gags. The restaurant competition, chaotic video game showdown, rainy-day misunderstanding, and surprisingly wholesome stray cat segment all balance slapstick comedy with genuine character moments. While the episode does little to advance the overall story, its excellent comedic timing, expressive animation, and lovable cast make it one of the season's funniest installments, earning a well-deserved 8.8/10.
