Trapped in a Dating Sim Season 2 Episode 1 Recap: Leon Faces the Saint

Trapped in a Dating Sim Season 2 Episode 1 Recap

A new semester should have brought Leon some peace, but instead it delivers political schemes, a fake Saint, hidden agendas, and the beginning of an expedition that could change the fate of the kingdom forever.

The episode 1 of Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs Season 2 starts with a hilarious flashback that perfectly captures Leon's frustration with the original otome game. While the game's heroes passionately shout about the "power of love" defeating evil, Leon remembers endlessly retrying impossible battles against giant monsters, overpowered princes, and absurd game mechanics. His sarcastic complaints remind viewers that this world was never balanced, and despite being reincarnated inside it, he still isn't a fan of how everything revolves around romance.

After defeating the Principality of Fanoss during the previous season, Leon has unintentionally thrown the original storyline completely off course. Although he successfully ended the war and saved countless lives, his actions have dramatically altered the game's future. Luxion calmly explains that history is no longer following the route Leon remembers. Instead of feeling proud, Leon is annoyed because his promotion to Viscount only means additional responsibilities, political attention, and more work.

Returning home during the academy break, Leon discovers that his family's estate has been renovated thanks to the fortune he earned from his adventures. His father proudly shows off the improvements while teasing Leon about rumors involving noble girls at the academy. The lighthearted family reunion quickly turns chaotic as Leon's eccentric relatives begin arguing over everything from marriage prospects to servants. Even Leon's sharp-tongued mother immediately demands that he hand over a legendary treasure recovered from the sky pirates.

That treasure turns out to be the Holy Necklace, one of the sacred relics connected to the legendary Saint. Leon had secretly planned to give it to Olivia someday, believing she should possess it according to the original game's story. However, priests from the temple suddenly surround his estate with an entire fleet of airships, leaving him little choice but to surrender the relic peacefully.

During the conversation, Leon receives shocking news. The temple has already identified someone else as the Saint after she appeared carrying another sacred relic, the Holy Bracelet. That person is none other than Marie Fou Lafan. The revelation completely catches Leon off guard because he immediately realizes that another reincarnated person has stolen Olivia's destined role in the story.

The episode then shifts perspective to Marie herself. Unlike Leon, Marie openly embraces her new life. Having suffered through poverty in both her previous life and her current noble family, she refuses to let fate control her again. Through determination and careful planning, she mastered healing magic, acquired the sacred relics, and successfully became the kingdom's official Saint. Her dream is simple—live comfortably with money, security, and status.

Unfortunately for Marie, the five former princes who sacrificed everything for her remain as troublesome as ever. Julius and his loyal companions continue showering her with unconditional affection despite losing their noble positions because of Leon. Instead of appreciating their devotion, Marie is completely exhausted by their foolish decisions. When they suggest building an expensive statue to celebrate her becoming the Saint, Marie explodes in frustration, calling them hopeless idiots who never learn from their mistakes.

Although Marie acts selfishly, she has not forgotten Leon. She openly blames him for ruining the original scenario and vows to defeat him one day. To strengthen her position, she begins gathering allies, including Carla, a lonely academy student who has become an outcast after recent political conflicts. Marie cleverly recruits people who have reasons to resent Leon, quietly building her own influence behind the scenes.

Back at the academy, Leon struggles with a different problem. After returning as the kingdom's celebrated hero, noble girls suddenly flood him with marriage invitations. The same students who once ignored him now desperately want to become his fiancée because of his new title and wealth. Leon immediately rejects every proposal, recognizing that most of them only care about his status. Luxion points out the obvious truth that Olivia and Angelica are completely different from these opportunistic nobles, though Leon still hesitates to confront his own feelings.

Meanwhile, the defeated Principality has not given up completely. The mysterious Black Knight reflects on his humiliating defeat while dangerous political figures continue preparing new plans in the background. Although open war has ended, the kingdom remains surrounded by hidden threats that could erupt at any moment.

The academy then announces two opportunities that immediately attract attention: a study-abroad program to the Alzer Republic and recruitment for the Saint's personal guards. Rumors quickly spread that Prince Julius could regain his position through Marie's growing popularity as the Saint. Leon dismisses the gossip as ridiculous, but fate has other ideas.

Angelica suddenly informs Leon that the royal palace has officially appointed him Captain of the Saint's Guards. The promotion surprises everyone, especially Leon himself. Behind closed doors, however, the kingdom's ministers reveal their real motives. Some fear Leon's rapidly increasing military strength and political influence after witnessing him destroy entire fleets during the previous war. Rather than reward him, they intend to keep him under constant observation by assigning him to accompany the Saint on an expedition.

The mission itself appears simple on the surface. Marie wants to search ancient floating islands for valuable treasures to solve her financial problems. The palace happily approves because it benefits everyone involved. Leon is ordered to escort her, while Princess Hertrude of Fanoss also joins the expedition as a closely monitored political hostage.

The unusual travel party quickly becomes crowded. Olivia and Angelica naturally accompany Leon, while Marie brings Julius and the remaining princes as her personal protectors. Tension fills the air almost immediately. Marie openly enjoys forcing Leon into an assignment he clearly hates, while Olivia and Angelica quietly remain suspicious of the self-proclaimed Saint. Hertrude observes everyone with cautious curiosity, creating an uneasy atmosphere aboard the flying ship.

As the expedition approaches a mysterious floating island covered with ancient ruins, Hertrude reveals an unexpected detail. The island was once part of her homeland, meaning she possesses valuable knowledge about the terrain. Leon realizes this information could become extremely important because he remembers that powerful Lost Items and forgotten technology were hidden inside these ancient ruins in the original game.

The episode ends with the expedition preparing to land on the mysterious island. While everyone focuses on discovering treasure, political ambitions, hidden identities, and long-buried secrets are already beginning to collide. With Marie rewriting destiny, Leon caught between royal conspiracies, and dangerous ruins waiting ahead, Season 2 wastes no time setting up a much larger adventure than anyone expected.
