Jooheon's second chance keeps paying off as he destroys a criminal empire, outsmarts rival treasure hunters, and forcefully claims a relic that refuses to obey him.
The episode 2 of Tomb Raider King starts with Jooheon Suh finishing his ruthless confrontation with the men who attacked him. After taking back what he wants, he notices that an ordinary-looking Buddha statue was being protected far more carefully than expected. Although it appears almost worthless, his Spy Skill detects a suspicious substance hidden inside it. Curious, he breaks it open and discovers valuable contraband concealed within the statue, immediately realizing why Xiang Gallery wanted it so badly.
Rather than selling the evidence, Jooheon contacts Geonwoo and sets an even bigger plan into motion. At Xiang Gallery, the owners confidently deny any wrongdoing when investigators arrive. Their confidence quickly disappears after they learn that every hidden storage room has already been opened and all six hundred artworks have been inspected. Drugs are discovered inside every single piece, leaving them speechless. The police reveal that they already know about the warehouse, while Jooheon secretly confirms that changing passwords regularly would have prevented this disaster. Furious, the gallery owners swear revenge as they are dragged away.
Soon afterward, Geonwoo informs Jooheon that he will receive a one hundred million won reward for exposing the criminal operation. Jooheon tells himself this provides the starting capital he needs before focusing on what matters most—beginning his search for tombs.
The next day brings an unexpected surprise. The place where Jooheon's apartment should be has completely disappeared, replaced by the appearance of a mysterious tomb. Instead of panicking, he immediately recognizes this rare opportunity and heads straight toward it.
At the scene, foreign organizations have already arrived. Linda Walker represents the American side while Abe leads the Japanese excavation team. Both groups exchange sharp words while competing for the relic waiting inside. Watching from a distance, Jooheon realizes that neither side truly understands how tombs work. He even criticizes the reckless idea of blasting open a tomb, believing only inexperienced people would attempt such a method.
Approaching the entrance, Jooheon discovers ancient glyphs covering the structure. Thanks to memories from his previous life, he knows these inscriptions reveal the locations of hidden passages and deadly traps. As he begins reading them, a new title is awarded to him, unlocking the Linguistics Skill and greatly improving his ability to understand every language. Delighted with his progress, he notes that only two basic skills remain locked.
Following the directions written on the walls, Jooheon locates the true entrance before anyone else notices it. While the others remain distracted by the dramatic opening of the tomb, he quietly slips inside and searches for the relic hidden deeper within.
His path leads him to an unusual guardian inspired by the famous story of the Gold Axe and the Silver Axe. The relic asks whether the gold knife or the silver knife belongs to him. Remembering exactly how this trial works, Jooheon first claims that neither weapon is his. The guardian praises his honesty before presenting another knife. Although accepting it would normally complete the trial peacefully, Jooheon refuses to trust the relic without checking it himself.
He bluntly explains that relics cannot always be trusted because their rewards may hide terrible consequences. He recalls that this very axe relic once transformed its owner into a serial killer. The guardian is shocked that a human already knows this secret, but Jooheon has no intention of repeating history. Instead of accepting the relic's conditions, he attacks it directly and demands complete submission.
The relic fights back fiercely, introducing the concepts of Affinity, Dominance, and Compatibility between relics and their users. However, Jooheon rejects the idea of earning trust through kindness. He repeatedly overwhelms the relic through brute force, threatening to destroy it completely unless it obeys him. Unable to resist any longer, the relic finally gives in.
His victory rewards him with another title and unlocks the Tomb Excavation Skill, bringing him one step closer to completing his basic abilities. However, his violent methods also earn him the ironic title of "Abuser of Relics," increasing his Dominance while lowering his Affinity. Jooheon laughs at the insulting title, believing results matter more than appearances.
Outside the tomb, confusion spreads among the rival excavation teams. Someone mentions following a prophecy that required throwing a relic into a mysterious pond, but nothing happens as expected. Instead, a sudden earthquake shakes the entire area, forcing everyone to evacuate while questioning whether the prophecy was incomplete.
Back at Xiang Gallery, the surviving members blame Jooheon for destroying their organization. Even though they promise revenge, Jooheon casually calls them and orders them to complete another job for him, making it obvious that he no longer fears them in the slightest.
Elsewhere, discussions reveal another alarming prophecy. The mysterious Korean responsible for these events is described as "the one who will devour the world." At the same time, Jooheon begins preparing for the secret Midas auction in Las Vegas. He instructs his reluctant subordinates to locate Jack Kayman, known simply as JK, while reminding them that refusing the mission will only result in him reaching the destination before they do.
The episode ends with Jooheon noticing another tomb manifestation while crossing paths with a member of the Japanese excavation team. After deliberately provoking him and discovering his identification, Jooheon realizes the next race for relics has already begun. As a fresh prophecy warns the Japanese side to beware of both the Korean carrying the axe relic and an unusual connection to alcohol, the episode closes with both sides unknowingly moving toward another inevitable confrontation.
Episode Verdict
Episode 2 does an excellent job of expanding the world without slowing the pace. Jooheon's confidence and clever planning make every encounter entertaining, while the introduction of rival excavation teams, relic mechanics, and mysterious prophecies raises the stakes considerably. The forceful way he claims the axe relic perfectly highlights his aggressive personality, and the final cliffhanger creates plenty of excitement for the next tomb hunt.
