Hearing that surprises him, especially since he never believed Saki liked him very much. Himeko insists otherwise before pointing out another obvious truth that Hayato has completely missed. Haruki probably only wanted his contact information because she hoped they could stay connected after meeting again.
That thought finally reaches him. Hayato realizes there is still so much he doesn't understand about Haruki. He is still adjusting to the fact that his childhood friend is actually a girl, and he still cannot figure out why she became so upset the previous day. Still, he begins thinking that maybe owning a phone would make it easier for them to understand each other little by little.
Not long afterward, Hayato helps a gardening club member named Minamo Mitake care for vegetables growing on campus. After harvesting zucchini, tomatoes, and eggplants together, Minamo gratefully offers him half of the fresh vegetables as thanks for his help. Before he leaves, she nervously asks for his email address so she can continue asking him for gardening advice whenever she needs help.
