The moment she arrives, the mystery is solved. Waiting there is Hayato, and Haruki immediately thanks him for rescuing her from the exhausting conversation. She admits she has never been good at typical girl talk. Romantic gossip, celebrity discussions, and endless conversations about who likes whom simply do not interest her. Instead, she enjoys talking about completely different subjects, including giant robots, video games, and changes inside game development studios. Unfortunately, almost everyone who shares those interests happens to be boys, making it difficult for her to fit in with the other girls at school.
Haruki also reveals that she learned an important lesson during middle school. Because of the way she acted around others, many people misunderstood her personality. Since then, she has carefully hidden parts of herself behind the image of a polite, well-behaved honor student. Hayato laughs at some of her complaints, earning himself a playful hit from Haruki, but he also understands that constantly pretending to be someone else must be exhausting.
Their relaxed conversation quickly shows how naturally they can still interact despite being apart for seven years. When Hayato casually messes up Haruki's carefully styled hair, she immediately protests, explaining how much effort it takes every morning to make it look perfect. She is carrying candy toys but quickly tries to hide them before admitting she enjoys collecting miniature models from the series. Instead of making fun of her hobby, Hayato listens with genuine interest. Haruki even proudly explains how difficult it was to collect one specific model after repeatedly getting the same item. The following day introduces another important encounter. While checking on the school garden, Hayato helps a gardening club member named Mitake Minamo harvest vegetables that have grown successfully. She gratefully offers him half of the harvest, explaining that she could only collect them thanks to his advice. Before they part, Minamo nervously asks for his email address so she can continue asking gardening questions in the future. Once again, Hayato apologizes because he still does not own a phone. Unlike Haruki, Minamo misunderstands his response at first and believes he is rejecting her personally. Hayato quickly clears up the misunderstanding before introducing himself properly and promising that once he finally gets a phone, he will contact her. Relieved, Minamo happily accepts his promise.
Unfortunately, Hayato's missing phone causes even more confusion at school. After getting caught in the rain without an umbrella, Nikaido kindly offers him hers. When Hayato insists on returning it properly, she suggests exchanging phone numbers. Forced to admit once again that he has no phone, he accidentally creates another awkward misunderstanding. Nearby students immediately assume he is simply refusing to share his contact information with one of the school's most admired girls. Rumors begin spreading before Hayato can properly explain himself, leaving him dragged away by curious classmates who bombard him with questions about his personal life.
Haruki later reminds him that she warned him this exact situation would happen. Hayato finally understands why everyone reacted so strongly to his lack of a phone. Their conversation eventually shifts toward choosing one, and Hayato shyly admits the real reason he has never bought one isn't money or strict family rules. There are simply too many different models available, and he has absolutely no idea which one to choose. Haruki bursts into laughter before apologizing, realizing his problem is surprisingly innocent. Wanting to help, she promises they will go shopping together that weekend and pick out a phone. Hayato happily accepts, grateful that someone is willing to guide him.
The episode ends with Himeko asking Haruki to accompany her on a nighttime trip to a real convenience store because she wants the full city experience instead of staying home. Their conversations feel natural, the misunderstandings are funny without becoming repetitive, and Hayato's complete lack of a cell phone becomes an unexpectedly entertaining running joke throughout the episode. By the final scene, the series has already established charming chemistry between its main characters while introducing several supporting characters who each leave a memorable first impression. It's a warm, lighthearted premiere that successfully sets up the relationships and everyday comedy that will drive the story forward.
